Meaning
The GPS receiver is sending some data in a valid format but it is not generating a valid position.Common causes
- The GPS receiver is acquiring satelites and not yet computing a valid position
- Cable connectors problem to the antenna
- Bad antenna
- Receiver Fault
Problem isolation
- Make sure that the antenna cables are not damaged and that all connectors are secure with no bent or broken pins.
- Check the GPS diagnostics for the antenna
- If the GPS diagnostics is OLD data and/or unknown and/or the GPS antenna status shows a Cable Fault message, there is most likely a damaged cable or connector between the left antenna and the receiver.
- Swap the antenna cable connections at the receiver. If the right antenna now shows cable fault and the GPS status message changes to NO GPS DATA, the problem is not the GPS receiver, but still could be the antenna cables, connectors.
- Re-connect the antenna cables to their original positions on the GPS receiver. Swap the antennas. If the OLD Position message reappears, there is probably a cable or connector problem on the let side. Continue to swap individual cables until the fault is isolated. If the no GPS Data message remains, there is probably a problem with one of the antennas.
- If the GPS mode is unknown and there is no other information, there may be internal communication problem with GPS receiver, Cycle power to the receiver and re-send the application file.
